My Sunday Best, Vol. 8: Time For a Change

Sunday, June 19, 2016

Happy Father's Day! We're celebrating with this flank steak tonight, and apparently decided to get bunnies and guinea keets to celebrate as well? I dunno, we just end up with more animals every time we go to the feed store... And I know we keep saying no more birds this year, buuuuut if they get quail again I'm not sure we'll be able to resist. They're SO CUTE.

Andrew's summer rehearsals start a little later than during the rest of the year, so he was able to come to Mass with us before he left for his church job. Which meant we could sit in the main church and I didn't have to take Peter out! Glory, glory Hallelujah!!! There was, obviously, a 3-year-old bathroom false alarm (I think they all have a signal during the homily that magically tells them it's time to go, even if they went RIGHT before Mass). But I can't complain!

John Paul apparently did his best to take the worst pictures possible.

So we tried again indoors, and he kept giggling because Peter was running in and out of the picture. Finally my mom took charge!

So there you have it - the best we're gonna get. As you can see, John Paul was about to run in front of me in this picture! Luckily my new camera charger should be here soon, and then we'll be back to the tripod ;)

Skirt: J. Crew Factory (still available in limited colors & sizes)
Blouse: H&M (old)

This is the last time I'm wearing that skirt until after the baby's born - I could barely get it zipped! I'm seriously running out of clothes that are appropriate for my belly size and the weather... ThredUp is no help, because everything ends up being long-sleeved or ugly.

Last pregnancy I was all about buying non-maternity clothes that would work well as transition pieces and carry me through to post partum. That worked great! But there comes a time when you really need *actual* maternity pieces, too... Most of mine from the first 4 pregnancies were worn out and I've gotten rid of them, so I've been perusing ASOS, deciding whether I might actually want to pull the trigger and buy something new (and the free shipping definitely makes me more likely to try these out!). Thoughts?

Is this floral dress... Too loud? I kind of love the print, and I think I'll be good wearing it through October (baby's due in November, and in those last few weeks all I really want to wear is my trusty black dress to minimize whale-like appearance).

I love the detail on this lilac dress but am not sure it would be a great color for my pale, pale skin.

I love polka dots. So much.

This wrap-front dress *might* have potential for post-partum wear as well, and is definitely nursing-friendly. Peter's weaned, but if it would be a flattering post-partum dress as well, that would be awesome!

I'm also very strongly considering this pencil skirt, and maybe this one (although again the color might not be great on me), and obviously this denim jumper.

I'm so kidding on the jumper. But aren't you glad to know it exists? Comes in pink, too ;)

Have you bought from ASOS maternity before? Or just ASOS in general? Care to share your wisdom? I feel like these would be SO great for taller ladies, since all the models are like, 5'11" and the midi dresses might end up an awkward length on 5'2" me...

Your turn!

Post your outfit details & links or not, regale us all with your children's antics, reflect deeply on the readings, or just do a straight picture post - anything goes as long as you actually wore your outfit to church. The link-up is open until Friday, so you've got plenty of time to add your post!

Just a few ground rules before you link up:

1. Please include a photo of what you wore to church this week.

2. Please link back to this post in the body of your post, so your readers know where to find other posts (posts not mentioning "My Sunday Best" or not linking back to this post will be subject to removal).

3. Please visit some other posts in the link-up & leave a nice comment - this is all about affirming each other and building community, not just link dropping :)

4. Make sure the link you add is a link to your specific post or instagram picture, not just your blog address.

5. Enjoy, and thanks for linking up!
